I have recently seen smoothies bowls everywhere – on Pinterest, Instagram, and even Buzzfeed. They looked delicious, but I wondered if it would be hard to make. Naturally, I had to try one. So, I went to my neighborhood juice and yogurt bar and tried an acai bowl out. IT WAS DELICIOUS, but I realized that I could make it myself (at a much cheaper price point). This recipe was so easy, filling, and reminded me of my favorite frozen yogurt – Pinkberry. 🙂
What you’ll need:
-
Base
- Almond Milk
- Frozen Fruit:
- Mango
- Banana
- Raspberry
- Blueberry
- Strawberry
- Pineapple
-
Toppings
- Fresh Fruit:
- Strawberries
- Banana
- Rasperries
- Granola (mine has flaxseeds and almonds in it)
- Coconut
- Chia Seeds
- Goji Berries
- Local Honey
- Fresh Fruit:
What you’ll do:
- Combine the base ingredients – frozen fruit and almond milk.
- *Frozen fruit works best – if you use fresh fruit, be sure to add ice
- Blend the yummy ingredients together until you get the consistency of frozen yogurt. I used my immersion blender and it worked just fine.
- Transfer the smoothie mixture to a bowl, arrange your toppings to taste, and EAT!
I probably ate one of these every evening after work and even tried out a variation with Kale and almond butter. The cool thing about this is that you can make ’em with anything! Try a smoothie bowl out and tell me how you like it. 🙂

I went wild with this bowl
